Another day in Kazakhstan

Chris got to feed Christopher today again. It did not go so well although most of it got into his mouth at the end. The caregivers gave Chris a plastic apron to put on (haha) :) Pourage was everywhere! It was pretty funny. We had to change his outfit again after the feeding. He had pourage all inside his clothes! Little thought it was funny and giggled after. I think the caregivers were pretty amused also. They were laughing. Since we are staying the full 6 weeks we will try to find some baby supplies here this afternoon. We need bottles and maybe a few bibs, cereal and jar food. We also have to buy a few outfits that are a little warmer than the clothes we brought. It has been a little cold here, especially in the morning and later on. There has been a lot of thunderstorms. By the end of August it will probably get colder here. Todays pictures also include a picture of our translator Eselle. She has been great. She shows us around town and translates menus into English for us so we can order things when she is not with us. She has been a tremendous help.

More pics of the cottage

Here are a few more pics of the cottage, sorry I could not fir all of them on the last post.

The Cottage

Here are pictures of the cottage that we are staying at. It is very comfortable and clean. We got very lucky. We have heard stories from other families that have rented the apartments, they have trouble with getting water and power outages. So we are very happy.

My Feeties

Here are the pics to prove I have legs and feet!!!

Still got the sniffles and so does Daddy

Christopher had a runny nose and cough today and his Daddy woke up with it also. It has been going around the baby house for a while now and so far most of the adoptive parents that are here have gotten it also. Mary also has been sick for the past few days. The kids just keep passing it back and forth. Every time we think Christopher is over it, the next day he is congested again. His gums are also bothering him so he was a little cranky today. Even when he is cranky its not that bad, usually a few tosses in the air will still make him smile. We have yet to see real tears. Usually if he is fussy all you need to do is hold him close and pat his back and he stops. He loves to be held. His caregivers seem to like us, they now allow us to feed him everyday and dress him. They asked if we wanted to work there because we do such a good job. They have been very nice to us and they love Christopher. They all call him their little giggler. We hope to get pictures of him with his caregivers before we leave. We will get them developed here and give them copies. We had pizza at a new place today. Not very good, it had onions under the little bit of cheese and it was supposed to have tomato sauce on it but it did not. We are definately missing american food but we have been adjusting. We cook in a lot and have found decent food at some places. We will post more pictures of the food here soon. Here are some pictures from todays visit. We took some pictures to prove the boy has legs and feet! The grandmas said all the pictures in the early postings were of his upper body and face and did not show the rest of him!

A few more pics for the grandmas!

Here are a few more pics for the grandmas who said we did not post enough photos! Here's a fix for ya!!

We played on the swing today

So today little Christopher got to go on the swing in the playground. We think he liked it, he looked like he was just taking it all in at first then warmed up to it. He also got feed by his momma today, who did a good job while Christopher tried to look at the TV behind him. This made getting it all in his mouth a little challenging. When we got upstairs after our outside playtime Christopher got to watch his first "Baby Einstein" DVD and seemed to like it while doing his tummy time. It really kept his attention, he will love it on our 55" TV at home. He is also getting his first tooth and likes to put his fingers in his mouth to help it feel better. He uses his rattle, a teether, and even our hands and fingers to sooth his gums. It is so sad that we can't do much for him but it will pass, soon we hope.

THE BABY HOUSE

This is where our boy lives for now and the playground they have for the children.

OUR MORNING ADVENTURE

Every morning we have a nice hour and half ride to see our boy so we figured we would share some of the sites, including the ten miles of dirt road. We pass cows and horses walking around and crossing the road whenever they like, people sitting selling berries and horse milk (yes I said horse milk). There is also a large lake which we have been told is very beautiful to look at but we would die if we went swimming due to the pollution. We also pass a number of kebob stands which we were told were safe to eat at (No horse meat used in kebobs). We hope to stop for lunch one day and we will update you for sure.

WE HAVE INTERNET!!!!!

Yeah, we finally have internet service in the cottage. Now we can actually update our blog everyday!! Today was the 10th visit with Christopher and he was a perfect birthday present for his Mommy. Could not have asked for more. Daddy got to feed him today. Got off to a rough start but got it all in without wearing to much:) A little more practice and he'll do great! We will now post pictures of our travel partners as well, we have been trying for a while. Mary and Keith are also our roomates at the cottage which really helps pass the time. Their son Kyle is beautiful. I will also include a picture of the meat pie which we had for dinner the other night. Very interesting.
